Susan Kilrain
NASA Astronaut
Susan Kilrain is a retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy Commander, known for her role as one of the few women to pilot the Space Shuttle. Born on October 24, 1961, she earned a degree in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s from the University of Tennessee. Kilrain joined NASA in 1994 and flew on two Space Shuttle missions, STS-83 and STS-94 aboard Columbia in 1997, logging over 470 hours in space.
